Deciduous, conical to spreading tree, lobed, dull green leaves, hairy beneath, tinged red in spring & again in autumn, sun, well drained soil. Ht to 25m. Sprd. 15m. Tolerant of all but harshest winters. Not suitable on shallow chalk soils.
